Purac Receives New Orders for 53 Million SEK—Will Employ During the Autumn
Purac, a division of the environmental engineering company Läckeby Water Group, has received two orders with a value of 53 million SEK. Both of them includes deliveries of plants for treatment of biogas to be used as vehicle fuel.
One of the orders, worth 23 million SEK, is for the municipal waste water plant in Karlstad, which produces biogas from households and industrial waste water. The biogas will be treated and upgraded to be used as vehicle fuel for the municipality's cars and also private-held cars.
– Sweden is a leading country for the treatment of biogas. With our technology, we predict a large market for us, even internationally. In the field of biogas treatment, there are only a couple of actors on the world market, but Purac has the latest and the most environmental friendly technology, says Lars-Evert Karlsson, Sales Manager for the biogas market at Purac.
Purac has also received an order from Oslo in Norway, worth 30 million SEK. Parts of the bus traffic in Oslo will be provided with biogas and the company is now building a plant for treatment of biogas at an existing municipal wastewater treatment plant in the main city of Norway. Today, biogas is produced from waste water which is used for heating, but with the upgrading technology from Purac, the biogas will be treated and compressed into fuel for the busses.
When the biogas is upgraded into vehicle fuel, the carbon dioxide is reduced to make the gas as clean as possible. The increasing interest for environmental friendly cars makes more companies and municipalities asking for Purac's technology. Therefore, Purac will employ engineers, project managers and marketing personnel during the autumn.
Purac has offices in eight countries and is a part of Läckeby Water Group, a private-held Swedish group which offers contracting, products and servicing for water treatment and biogas production. The largest owner is KF Invest.
Läckeby Water Group had a turnaround of half a billion SEK in 2008.
