Läckeby Water Group extends water treatment plant for paper mill in Poland

The Purac Division of Läckeby Water has obtained an order from the paper mill Arctic Paper in Poland. The mill will increase their production by approx. 50 per cent and has been granted funds from EU for an extension that will treat the water to an extent exceeding the EU standard.

The order value is fully SEK 7 million out of a total investment of approx. SEK 30 million. The order comprises supply of process equipment and key equipment for upgrading of the existing process to a BAS process (Biofilm Activated Sludge). The mill will keep the existing treatment plant delivered by Läckeby Water already in 1999. This was the first biological treatment plant consisting of a FlooBed (MBBR) and sludge separation in a DAF.

The paper mill Arctic Paper is Swedish-owned and is situated in Kostrzyn on the river Oder on the German border. The equipment will be delivered in September 2007 and the treatment plant will be taken into operation in May next year.

Purac has a number of important reference plants that have been built with the same type of process, for instance Stendal, Södra Cell Värö and Stora Enso Kvarnsveden.

Purac has several municipal references in Poland. In the nineties, Läckeby Water delivered some twenty industrial projects in Poland and this new focus on industrial customers has now resulted in another important reference plant.

- We are pleased to be able to contribute to a cleaner environment, and our focus on industrial projects in Poland is a break-through on a geographic market that we prioritize, says Martin Hagbyhn, CEO of Läckeby Water Group.
